The title itself is a play on words, referencing my personal experience of moving far from family and the ensuing feelings of displacement and loss. The dual meaning of "sun/son" highlights the artist's journey of self-discovery and the challenges faced when a source of inspiration or support is no longer present.
The colors and shapes in this work represent the energy and emotion of Memphis musicians. The layers and textures in this work display the complexities and depth of memories found within music. This represents a tangible object of a memory, associating recollections with that moment in time.
